Taking the Plunge
While mainstream media is reviewing all potential V.P. choices for Obama’s presidental campaign, I stand by my pre-announcement that it will be Indiana’s Senator Evan Bayh.
Today’s New York Times article on Senator Bayh simply confirms it. While the writer warns that Senator Evan Bayh was a strong supporter for the Iraq invasion, it doesn’t admit that people can have a “change of heart.”
It takes real courage to consider all points of view and then, if the situation warrents it, change your mind … or consider new options.
Senator Bayh’s energy and tax related actions in Senate committees strongly support Senator Obama’s proposed energy and economic plans. Energy conservation first for national energy security, fiscal frugality to strengthen the economy from every sector, and strong investment in hybrid technology.
What it doesn’t mention - yet - is that a wind down of the war would create a HUGE movement toward oil security. U.S. military efforts abroad now constitute about 30% of this country’s oil use.
When one looks at images of Russian tanks rolling down the country roads in Georgia, and its occupation of airspace over the country … one could imagine another fuel savings if they simply turned off their engines. Russia doesn’t have to worry about oil supplies, of course. However, we do.
