The U.S. has failed to take responsibility for its actions on emissions, charges Kevin Knoblock, president of the Union of Concerned Scientists. In setting up roadblocks, the U.S. continues to question the clarity and urgency of the science. This assessment was confirmed by Yvo de Boer.
The fear that the talks are collapsing, was confirmed by Yvo de Boer. He said that issues have been linked together creating a house of cards that could collapse if even one of these issues fails.
The U.S. is also ignoring the most recent report by the IPCC scientists which now pushes up the state of alarm for the Earth from urgent to catastrophic. From this point forward, says Knoblock, every year is prescious.
“The U.S. is no longer in denial about climate change,” warns Carl Pope, Executive Director of the Sierra Club. “It just lacks the will to respond. This is the most irresponsible action of any president in U.S. history. The U.S.should not be forgiven, he says, “for they know full well what they do.”
